Congratulations!

TGS would like to send a huge shout out to the team at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at Deakin University for their UA teaching award last week for Citizenship and Globalisation. This school has 80% of its students undertake an international mobility experience, 3 times the national average of 25%, an incredible effort.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

Dr John White and his team provide a valuable example of how outbound mobility can be achieved through embedding opportunities into their courses, marketing these during Open Day before they even have them as students, again during O’week where they are reminded to start thinking about how and when to undertake the various opportunities and provide consistent communications about the various opportunities and deadlines as they arise.

TGS has provided them a study tour to Borneo in Conservation and Environmental Sustainability for 8 years prior to last year, and it may surprise you to know that this program has never received any funding (and it is not a cheap program with one international and two domestic flights included), has competitive entry, and there is always a waiting list! With the will, and working with a number of third party providers, the school of LES has done what many are still trying to work out how to do. So well deserved John, Raylene and Mike!!
