Volunteer Vietnam Da Nang.

About Volunteer Vietnam - Da Nang.

The commercial and educational center of Central Vietnam, Danang is the largest city in the region and fourth-largest city in Vietnam. It also serves as one of the most significant seaports in the central region and is situated in central Vietnam between the capital city Hanoi in the north and Ho Chi Minh City in the south.

In your free time you can visit the night market to try the local food, take a tour of the city or visit the surrounding local cultural sites such as Marble Mountain, the limestone hills just outside of Da Nang, Linh Ung Pagoda containing the giant white Lady Buddha, Ba Na Hills, or enjoy the beautiful local beaches.

For a weekend trip, visit Hoi An where you can explore the Ancient City, or Hue with its Forbidden City, both UNESCO heritage sites.

Physical Therapy.

Assist with providing physiotherapy and occupational therapy to children and adults with mental and physical disabilities in the Social Support Center in Da Nang city.  Volunteers work closely with the VV physiotherapist and are trained in the therapy exercises.

You will spend the majority of your time (approximately 12 hours per week) in the physical therapy program, with the balance helping out in the teaching or social care and support program.

In this program:

You will mainly work at the Da Nang Social Support Center which is a home for around 200 elderly and disabled residents, many of whom require mental and physical stimulation through therapy.  The Centre has two rehabilitation rooms with a variety of equipment, which you will be shown how to use if not familiar, and you will be trained in exercises for specific residents where necessary. You will always be accompanied by a VV team member and the Social Support Center staff are there to assist also.

While this program provides volunteers with the opportunity to assist these people, those undertaking qualifications in this field can be a useful resource to the VV staff working with limited resources.

  • School for Disabled Children physical and educational activities to motivate teamwork and improve mobility.
