Law

Overview

Law internships can offer a diversity of opportunities for students to gain practical experience and insight into the legal profession. The specific roles can vary depending on the type of law firm, organization, or legal department. Malaysia's legal system is rooted in the UK's common law, however, the dual system includes Syriah law for Muslims. Malaysia (and many of its neighbors) also enforces the death penalty, with 34 criminal offenses punishable by death. Also, Malaysia is not a signatory to the UN Convention on Human Rights, and this action has resulted in a diversity of NGOs developed to support refugees and migrant workers who are without rights.
