Message from the Director
Good grief. The end of March, officially end of the TGS year, and the first quarter down. This month's message comes to you from the APAIE Conference in Singapore, where I presented with my colleague from Bangkok University on Empowering Future Graduates in the context of Thailand Education 4.0. It was wonderful to catch up with former colleagues including my favourite Malaysian, Wei, who was my first staff member when I arrived in KL, and to connect with current and potential partners as we finalise existing programs and hatch new ones for NCP bids.
With all students safely home again at the end of February, we managed a week of leave to recharge before we welcomed our latest addition to the team (Jeanna), held a forum for potential internship hosts with 40 new companies expressing interest, and began preparations for our visit to Australia for the mobility fairs, meetings and info sessions.
I was also very pleased to be able to attend the ASEAN Australia education dialogue in Penang, which welcomed a gathering of senior university staff, government officials and other interested parties from across ASEAN, who came together to share experiences, discuss issues around specific themes, and develop a series of outcomes that will be used to drive increased engagement and cooperation in education across the region.
Finally, I am looking forward to reaching Melbourne on Easter Sunday for a catch up with family before hitting the road across Victoria and NSW for 2018-2019 mobility fairs, and look forward to reconnecting with those I missed at APAIE!
2nd annual internship host forum
2nd annual internship host forum
Earlier this month we hosted our second annual host forum, which is designed to entice new companies into hosting interns, as well as re-engaging some companies that may have dropped off the radar. Guest speakers included Ms Bernadine Caruana, Counsellor Education and Science from the Department of Education and Training at the Australian High Commission in KL, as well as some experienced host companies that shared the benefits of hosting Australian interns to their companies.
We were especially happy with the turn out and excited to pick up a number of new exciting companies for 2018 and beyond, as we gear up for 150 interns this year. We are also very pleased to welcome Engineers Australia Malaysia Chapter who are keen to engage with TGS for internships and engagement with local youth members.
Welcome to the Team - Jeanna!
We are very excited to announce that our team has grown again. This month we welcome Jeanna who joins us as our new Business Administrator.
