Message from the Director
And so it is Christmas…And another year almost over!
This year we will have twenty students (UniMelb and Deakin engineering, and another Deakin business student) undertaking their internships over the Christmas period, all excited at their first Christmas away from home. If you are planning programs over summer, don’t think that students won’t want to be away from family at that time. For many, while it might be a bit of a challenge on the day, most are excited at the prospect of what it might feel like, and to see how they will cope – another challenge and learning experience! TGS provides a group Christmas dinner, but most will use the public holidays to do some travelling within Malaysia.
Christmas at TGS is a short break in the working year as we prepare for the numerous groups arriving early January – Global Education Practicums for pre-service teachers in KL, Kota Kinabalu and Bangkok; Victoria University Community Development; Latrobe Accounting; together with a few individual’s from our partners CIS and International Internships – means we will hit the ground running immediately after New Year with the arrival of more than 50 new students!
At this time, the team at TGS would like to thank all of you who have supported us this year, and those we will be working with on new programs for next year. Wishing you and your families a safe, happy and peaceful festive season, and we look forward to working with you all again in 2018!
Now to enjoy my first Aussie Christmas in 6 years!
Race Around KL
Arriving in a new city for th first time can be quite a daunting experience and at TGS we love to throw away the guidebook! All students that arrive in country compete in our very own 'Race around KL' where they learn to use public transport, find their way around key destinations and are even challenged to eat the Infamous durian!!
he race relies on the students working in a group to solve small challenges and we always get excited to see some competitive personalities on display!
The race is arranged and included in the price of the program and we feel this is a real value add to all students and interns!
The next chapter in the TGS story
